A premium immersion chiller made with 50 feet of 1/2" OD copper tubing. It is built to suit a converted keg or similar sized pot, intended for batches over five gallons, but will chill a five gallon batch from boil to 75 degrees in as little as 5 minutes.* It is ergonomically designed with the inlet/outlet serving as "handles" to aid in swirling and transportation.
*dependant on groundwater temperature
Ships unassembled with:
- (2) 4' lengths of clear vinyl tubing
- (3) strong stainless steel hose clamps
- (1) 3/4" heavy duty female swivel garden hose fitting (sink adaptor available below)
- Simple assembly instructions
Start by washing it with warm water with a mild degreaser (Star Degreaser, fragrance-free Dish Soap, etc.). Rinse thoroughly. Then rinse again.
Soaking you wort chiller in StarSan for 20 minutes will brighten and sanitize your chiller. In case of extreme oxidation and dirtiness, you can also soak your chiller in a diluted distilled white vinegar solution or citric acid to get that clean copper shine back.
Many home brewers will sterilize their chiller in their wort during the last 15 minutes of boil. Another option is to boil the chiller in a separate pot, but it's unnecessary if your chiller is relatively clean to begin with.
Sanitizing Ratio: 1oz / 5 gallons - Star San
Cleaning Ratio: 6oz / 5 gallons - white vinegar
When you are done chilling, immediately rinse your chiller or place it into a 5 gallon bucket of water until you can properly rinse it. Do not let it sit out and dry. The hop residue and cold break will dry and stick to the copper making it more difficult to clean.
